My name is Farhan M. Hidig, I was 16 years old when I
joined Somaliland Environmental and Education youth organizations SEEYO is a
Non- governmental Non- political and non-religious and Non- profit-making
organization dedicated to the well-being and the better shape areas of fossil
fuel reduction, Environmental Protection and NFE in order to bypass the cutting
and burning of charcoal energy by changing Renewable energy and transplant new
seedling of establish especial nursery for plantation
Currently, I am chairperson of SEEYO, over the decade
SEEYO working for a different sectors of environmental activities such as
Conducting of Empowerment of Renewable energy participatory training sessions
with the identified target groups, inclusive extended field trips, Tree
plantation distribution activities and planting of trees for timber, fodder,
fruit and shade to identified plots, transmission of mini drama to identified
targets group in urban areas and in forests and Promotion of local
environmental groups by enhancing their Capacities to cooperate and steer environmental
mini-projects in a joint manner strengthened and their profiles raised
The population of Somaliland is fast growing, Charcoal
and fossil fuel are the majority sources of energy, the rate of air pollution
and environmental disasters of deforestation is getting worse, in addition of
extensive rate of electricity manufacturing companies provides charges
$1-1.25 per kilowatt hour, that more than 10 times expensive of the neighboring
countries. Due to the lack of other alternative source of energy that is negatively affected by both
urban and rural Socio-economic existence
As a result, the government of Somaliland collaborating
with the civil society, UN Agencies and international donors have been
developed the accessibility of renewable energy, therefore, the Government of
Somaliland Has initiated their commitment to improve the climate change through
establishment of alternative renewable wind and solar energy empowerment
programs that now going to implement
Somaliland in the near future
However, The President of
Somaliland H.E Ahmed Silaanyo launched for the largest wind farm at Egal
international Airport
President Siilaanyo
inaugurated for the first wind farm energy in Somaliland. According
to the efforts and dedication of Somaliland government on climate change the
president of Somaliland thank and congratulate the ministry of energy and
mineral as well as especial thank with support of USAID and others support this
project, president encouraged the renewable energy resources according to
socio-economic development and effective cost accessibility and enhancing the
sustainability of
renewable energy production, The official launch of wind farm renewable energy project at Egal airport
have been benefited the Massala Village including the Air port with the
cheapest price and quality electricity this wind farm and other
renewable power producers and distributors, the commitment of Somaliland
Government will play active role for
Global Intended National
Determining contributions INDC prioritizing the empowerment of
effective renewable energy of Community participatory among the market job opportunity, and
reducing air pollution
Currently, people understanding bit by bit the advantage
of renewable energy, the rural community of Somaliland the most users of the
renewable energy, this progress w will be positively impact for the
availability of cheapest light service into the people both rural and urban
community, at same time the unique natural renewable energy will provides power
and infrastructure development which
will expand all regions of Somaliland
for the near future, this renewable energy framework is essential to reduce trouble
pollution and deforestation at same time Somaliland committed to play active
role on climate change
Finally, the Republic of
Somaliland committed to reduce air pollution and deforestation to maintain the average temperature of country’s climate temperature as well as part of global climate
